It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since Circle+Bloom began! Can you believe that over this span of time, we touched more than 50,000 fertility journeys over the past ten years. It’s humbling to think about that…
In 2008, I started researching and creating guided visualization programs for infertility after going through it myself, coming out the other side, and then watching one of my closest friends struggle with infertility too.
When it was just me, I just pushed through. It’s all I knew to do. I think of it like a fish that doesn’t realize it’s in water. It’s all around them, it’s everything, but they don’t see it.
When my friend told me about her struggle with infertility, I wanted to do something. I wanted to use my experience and perspective from going through infertility to help her see that she was swimming in water. And then help her find a faster, easier current to take her where she wanted to go.
I started researching. I leaned toward the connection between stress and infertility, as I had believed for so long in the mind-body connection and how visualization give us a tool to help ourselves. That idea has always made sense to me.
The more I read, the more I learned that the mind-body connection truly is a powerful factor in infertility.
The Moment That Was Meant to Be
In the summer of 2008, I was at my sister’s house on Cape Cod. She was reading Bernie Siegel’s book, “Love, Medicine and Miracles”. I grabbed the book from her and read it cover-to-cover in just a few hours. Bernie’s belief that the power of healing stems from the human mind resonated deeply with me.
I found Bernie’s email address, wrote him, and he responded immediately. I asked him if he believed his approach could be applied to infertility. He replied with an emphatic yes.
That was the beginning of a close relationship between Bernie and Circle+Bloom. Over the last decade, he has been a trusted advisor, a member of our board, and a huge influence on my work and beliefs.
Soon after that trip, it all came together for me. I had been wanting to create something. To really pour my passions and interests into work that I could grow and nurture.
One morning, as I stood in my kitchen drinking coffee while my two young daughters played nearby, the idea hit me to record guided visualizations that would be tied to women’s daily cycles.
Circle+Bloom was born.
Over the next several months, I was fully dedicated to creating our first two programs: the natural cycle for fertility and the IUI/IVF mind-body program.
Since then, we’ve added programs to help more women with PCOS, frozen embryo transfers, egg and embryo donation, and relaxation for fertility.
It’s amazing to me that we’re now celebrating the 10th year of Circle+Bloom! I hope you’ll get a little excited with us because we have ten amazing gifts to giveaway this month to honor our anniversary!
