No one ever warns you about the roller coaster of emotions you’ll experience when trying to conceive. From the day you begin trying, your mind and body will be in a constant state of flux. You’ll go from feeling hopeful and optimistic, to anxious and stressed out – all before finally conceding to defeat. If only it was that simple. The reality is that the journey to fertility can be wrought with so much emotion, it’s often hard to know which way is up. The first time I tried to get pregnant, I treated it like it was a job. I put so much pressure on myself and my husband that it resulted in a false positive and resentment between us. That was not what I envisioned when I wanted to start a family. The next time around I promised myself that things would be different.
I decided to read the book The Secret imagining what I wanted and believing that I could get it. I also did meditations and had conversations with my higher power, all while making sure I FELT GOOD. Thankfully, there’s growing evidence that suggests how we think and feel about our fertility can have a significant impact on our ability to conceive because three months later, I found out I was pregnant for real this time!
Why your mind+body connection matters when TTC
As a woman trying to conceive, you are likely already familiar with the mind/body connection. The body is an incredible machine, and when it is in balance, it can do amazing things. However, when the mind and body are out of sync, it can be difficult to get pregnant. There are many things that can affect the mind/body connection, including stress, poor diet, and lack of exercise. When trying to conceive, it is important to do everything you can to promote balance. By connecting with your mind and body, you can create the optimal environment for fertility and improve your chances of conceiving.
How the mind/body connection affects fertility
When it comes to fertility, the mind/body connection is vitally important. Research has shown that stress can have a negative impact on fertility, making it more difficult to conceive. One of the ways the mind/body connection affects fertility is by affecting ovulation. Ovulation is the release of an egg from the ovary, and it’s controlled by hormones. If you’re stressed, your body may not produce enough of the hormone progesterone, which can interfere with ovulation. Stress can also affect the quality of your eggs, making them less likely to be fertilized.
Additionally, research has shown that men who are stressed are more likely to have lower sperm counts and poorer quality sperm. So, if you’re trying to conceive, it’s important to find ways to manage your stress levels. Relaxation techniques such as yoga or meditation can be helpful, as well as talking to a therapist about any fertility-related stressors. By taking care of your mind and body, you can increase your chances of conceiving and having a healthy pregnancy.
Ways to improve the mind/body connection for better fertility
When it comes to fertility, the mind-body connection is everything. By managing stress levels, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and thinking positively, you can increase your chances to conceive. Here are three ways to improve this connection for better fertility:
First, relaxation is key. When the mind is stressed, the body follows suit. This can lead to hormone imbalances which make it difficult to conceive. To prevent this, find ways to relax and de-stress on a daily basis. Try taking a yoga class, going for walks in nature, or simply set aside time each day to meditate. These techniques help to reduce stress levels, which can impact fertility. In addition, relaxation techniques can also improve blood flow to the reproductive organs, increasing the chances of conception.
Secondly, what you put into your body and how you treat it matters. Eating nutritious food, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep are all important for keeping the mind and body healthy – and this includes fertility health. Nourish your body with whole foods and give yourself time to rest and rejuvenate.
Lastly, stay positive. When trying to conceive, it’s easy to get caught up in negative thoughts and feelings of anxiety or insecurity. But it’s important to remember that the mind-body connection works both ways. So, try to focus on the positive and trust that your body knows what it’s doing.
Conclusion
The mind/body connection is so important for fertility because it allows us to tap into the power of our thoughts and emotions to create physical changes in our bodies. When we focus on positive, nourishing thoughts, we can increase the circulation of blood and nutrients to our reproductive organs, and promote hormone balance. Similarly, when we release negative emotions like stress and anxiety, we can reduce inflammation and improve the function of our immune system. By understanding and working with the mind/body connection, we can give ourselves the best possible chance of conceiving a healthy baby.
